As you all know that it is the age of satellite channels, computers, internet and mobile phones. Our children most of the time get hooked in some of these gadgets. The biggest casualty of this new craze is the reading habit. Reading is a habit that enhances your understanding and also stretches your imagination. It is an art. It also relaxes your mind and enriches your thoughts.
Nowadays children don't read anything. Reading comics were the thing of the past. Even schools are not encouraging children to read.
Parents too could not encourage their children as they are also victim of electronic gadgets. They don't find time or inclination to read anything other than just going through the day's headline. Reading editorials and well analytical articles has become a rarity.
A situation like this, I was completely awestruck to see when fifth book of Harry Potter was released recently there were wide spread frenzy all over the world. Children were waiting in hours to purchase a copy of this book. Within minutes of its sale million copies were sold out. There were lot of discussions both in the media as well as in public forums about the new release of Harry Potter and there were animated discussions over the characters of this book.
I am not a fan of Harry Potter. In fact I have not read any Harry Potter books. Yet I salute the author of Harry Potter for his great revolution. You may think what revolution I am talking about. Yes author of Harry Potter inculcates reading habit among children. I am really amazed to see that children are ready to throw their electronic gadgets for a copy of newly released Harry Potter. No school or college able to inculcate reading habit as the author of Harry Potter does. We need more authors like the author of Harry Potter in this world to save the humanity from the electronic gadgets.
